Adobe Illustrator & Indesign and Procreate, 2026
Growing up as a Disney kid, Winnie the Pooh has always been one of my favorite characters. But I wanted to delve into the original published works of A.A. Milne’s Winnie the Pooh — way before it became licensed under Disney. Thanks to the Internet Archive, I was able to view the books and admire Milne’s poetic words and E.H. Shepard’s charming illustrations. I wanted to challenge myself to redesign a sort of “collector’s edition” of The Complete Tales of Winnie the Pooh and style it to be as timeless as its stories and friendships.
After seeing E.H. Shepard’s drawings, I illustrated the characters myself in Procreate. I wanted Pooh’s golden color to be the central color of the design, with accents of a warm orange, white and black. Additionally, I created vector illustrations of decorative elements inspired by folk art, “vintage” movie title cards, and the autumn season. Overall, I decided on a minimalistic approach to spotlight my character illustrations, while other elements act as ornaments.
