During my internship with the non-profit SF Heritage, I was tasked with creating some design assets for their new membership system "Special City." This membership has 3 different subscription levels, which I created illustrations for. Signing up for a membership grants subscribers access to weekly e-newsletters, discounted entry to a number of historical sites, and invitations to special events. Additionally, I created an icon, making it easy for subscribers to spot the newsletter no matter if they came from SF Heritage's website or other web pages.
For these assets, I aimed for a cozy scrapbook feel to radiate the feel-good energy of San Francisco overall and to welcome readers of all backgrounds, SF native or not. Inspired by aesthetics like Paper Super Mario and the Disneyland parks, I emphasized the soft chalk lines, included softer colors, made the main subjects sticker-like, and drew simple shapes with charming and "easter egg" details that many locals would recognize (such as the Irish coffee and one of the Sunset district's famous houses).
