As a proud LEGO fan, I wanted to dedicate a timeline that would supposedly go in a publication, such as The New Yorker. I gathered the company’s revenue from the years 2000-2022 from public annual reports on their website, and I wanted to highlight the achievements they have had. It was interesting learning about the different products, themes, and celebrations LEGO has had, while also getting to illustrate my favorite LEGO themes and sets. While intended for an older audience, I wanted to incorporate the playfulness and childlike wonder that LEGO promotes; LEGO is for people of all ages, not just children. My illustration style for characters was a great fit for that childlike aesthetic. I incorporated small doodles like arrows or linework of LEGO parts as if it was scribbled on with a crayon.
