Inspired by the Animal Crossing in-game stamp rally and Japanese stamp collections, I wanted to apply the concept to CalAcademy, a museum I've loved since childhood and now work at for guest experience. The Academy is a popular place for families to visit, but much of our exhibitions contain more textual information rather than hands-on activities. I brainstormed ways to engage visitors, especially since most of our guests are younger, and a stamp rally seemed like the perfect fit.
In addition to our younger audiences, I also noticed that most people miss hidden gems such as Methuselah (one of the oldest fish living in human care) or our gems and minerals exhibition on the third level. I decided on 12 individual stamp designs for 12 different iconic locations in the museum. This way, guests who want to collect all 12 will go on a journey throughout the whole building.
