Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop, 2025 — Case Study
artisticks is a made-up creative tool, featuring sticks that can be transformed into a paint brush & pencil, drumsticks, and knitting needles — just by changing the caps! Here's a behind-the-scenes look at how this brand came to life:
The first steps of building the brand included writing a unique selling point and brand tones, determining a target audience, and of course settling on a certain style that'll capture audience's hearts and eyes. I intended artisticks to be diverse, imaginative, and sustainable to fit the chaotic yet innovative lives of young artists.
Then came the concept sketching and brainstorming! I initially came up with three concepts: a playing cards style (based on the target audience), birds and arrows, and geometric shapes. Out of all the concepts and styles, I ended up choosing a bird (an icon that typically represents travel) and the motif of arrows (related to navigation, directions, a compass) to represent the exploration of self-expression through art.
However, I developed a love for the fluidity of the geometric shapes and I incorporated into the cast of brand characters! I had the motto "shape your story" stuck in my head, and what better way to represent that than with literal shapes? "shape your story" is also part of the bigger story, in the way that it can fit any artist's agenda: knit your story, paint your story, write your story, etc... the list goes on and on!
Having a cast of characters for a brand was a really fun concept that I loved. I like to think that in these applications that they're exploring and making art in a playground of their own:
